The 9th annual Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament which took place August 22-25 again proved itself to be the party of the season. Sixty-six boats with over 350 anglers vied for a record $364,000. But the real winners were the charities the tournament supports, late local icon Wayne McLeskey, and a couple of honored mates.

From the very beginning, the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament Board Members felt a strong commitment to not only highlight the phenomenal fishing in Virginia Beach, but also create an event that gives back to the community. The Board also felt strongly that the future belongs to our children, and an overwhelming vote was cast to give to organizations involved in helping today's youth.

In addition to our commitment to local communities, the VBBT knows that the fate of our sportfishing traditions are closely intertwined with the health and viability of our oceans and the fish they harbor. To that end we support two organizations that work tirelessly to protect and maintain these resources for the generations to come.
