2008 ENTRY INFORMATION updated February 19, 2008 Important Dates and Times to Remember August 1: Last day to enter without paying an additional $150. August 20: Tournament entry ends at 10:00pm. Entry Application—LIMITED TO 75 TEAMS Teams wishing to enter the VBBT must complete a 2008 Tournament Entry Application. Entry forms can be found on the www.VBBT.com website, and may also be requested by calling 757.652.8409 or e-mailing paula@VBBT.com. Entry fees may be paid by either cash or check. Make checks payable to the "Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament". Mail entry forms and payment to:    Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament    Post Office Box 568    Virginia Beach, VA 23451 After August 8 we recommend that you enter in person instead of mailing your entry to make sure your entry is received. You can enter at Fisherman’s Wharf Marina through 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 19 or during Registration on August 20. Registration Registration takes place on Wednesday, August 20 between 4:00pm and 10:00pm. Teams must check in during Registration to verify information and pick up team bags. Teams may enter optional entry levels throughout Registration. Teams may pre-register at Fisherman’s Wharf Marina through 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 19 but must check in during Registration on the 20th to verify information, add anglers, pick up team bags and attend the Captain’s Meeting. Teams running late due to weather or mechanical problems may register up to 8:30am on Thursday, August 21, but must make arrangements with the tournament director beforehand. Teams registering late are still expected to abide by any rules changes that may be announced at the Captain’s Meeting. Late Entry Teams registering after August 1 are charged an additional $150. Team Contact The person designated on the Entry Application as the Team Contact is the official contact/team leader for the team. Contact information for this person must be complete. Anglers There is no limit to the number of anglers per team, but all anglers must be registered during Registration on August 20. It does not matter which day the angler is fishing. Captains and mates may also be anglers, but must be registered as such. Team Bags Each team receives a team bucket with sponsor give-aways, six tournament t-shirts and six event tickets. Merchandise and event tickets for additional team members may be purchased at the event. Prize Money Cash awards are paid by check and mailed within two weeks following the event. If you won a cash award you must fill out a Disbursement Form with payee name, address and SSN/EIN before a check can be disbursed. You may have more than one payee. Disbursement Forms with the award amount will be available at the Awards Celebration. A 1099-MISC is issued for all prize money to the person or company to whom the check is made payable. Refunds Any refunds due are mailed to the Team Contact within 30 days after the tournament. Withdrawal from the Tournament If a team chooses to withdraw from the tournament, they may do so in writing up to 9:00pm on August 19 for a full refund. After August 19 there are no refunds. If a team cannot attend due to what VBBT Officials deem an emergency, they may choose to roll their full entry to the 2009 Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament.
