VBBT PARTICIPANTS OPEN HEARTS AND PURSES

Tournament participants at the VBBT Charity Auction opened their hearts and purses this year to join in supporting the VBBT's chosen charities. Over $80,000.00 was raised including $42,750.00 for the Boys and Girls Clubs. Other recipients include D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Children's Performance Workshops, The Billfish Foundation and the Recreational Fishing Alliance.

STEVE GOIONE ORIGINAL AUCTIONS FOR $20,000.00!

In an extraordinary display of generosity VBBT Board of Director member Wayne Sawyer, among some stiff competition, won the bid for the original illustration commissioned from Steve Goione for the 2005 VBBT. The $20,000.00 bid went into the kitty to be distributed to the tournament's charities. "We had our hearts set on taking the original home from the minute we saw it," said Sawyer. "Not only is it a beautiful piece of art, but Steve did a remarkable job of capturing the spirit and look of our home town." When asked for his reaction to the unprecedented amount bid for his illustration Goione said "I'm blown away. People need to know about the quality of this event and the people who run it and come to it. I've never seen such an outpouring of generosity."
